Having seemingly resolved the murder of the rock star and the IA officer, Nick (Douglas)
comes home to find Catherine (Stone) in tears and obviously distraught instead of the distant
attitude she exhibited earlier. It seems she had to turn him away because everyone close to her
always died and he didn't want him to. He comforts her and the two start up their sexual escapades again,
but now share more love than just casual sex. Yet Verhoeven and the script is relentless, choosing
camera angles that suggest she still may be the real killer, even up to the very last
second of the film.
